In 2008, Pioneer was subcontracted by Hardrives Construction, Inc. to provide field inspection and construction materials testing services for the realignment and improvement of 23.5 miles of the Pioneer Mountain Scenic Byway. The Pioneer Mountain Scenic Byway ascends a 7,800-foot divide between the Wise River and Grasshopper Creek drainages in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest.
This byway project was completed for and supervised by the FHWA. Our technicians assigned to this project were WAQTC certified in each of the construction materials associated with this project. Pioneer was responsible for the following tasks: 1) sample collection for aggregates and asphalts; 2) construction materials testing; 3) asphalt mix design; 4) compaction testing for bound and unbound layers; 5) asphalt core recovery; and 6) materials quantity documentation.
